Mother and I
My mother, alias Maman, studied French in college. That was a few years ago. As a singer (now retired), she also sang in English, French, Latin, Italian, Spanish, and German. So she is no stranger to foreign languages!
When I was living at home, she used to indulge me by speaking French with me. She got along quite well! And when she and my father visited France for the first time in 1968, she dredged up her French when needed, and used it well. Impressive, no?
Here’s a short interview that I conducted with her, in French, on May 2, 2012. Yes, she had a few notes in her hand, and yes, we rehearsed before we recorded. I want you to hear this because I am proud of my mother, and because I think it will show you what you can do even if you are a beginner. She reads Spk Frnch every day, so if you want to respond to her courage and spirit, just leave a comment.
Maman, je t’aime!
