Whether you are a native speaker of French or a novice who longs to know something of this lovely language, you will enjoy “Speak French”.
Your language is where you live—where your heart lives. It’s like your house, your home. But if you sometimes long for a little taste of exoticism, a peek out the windows of your home into someone else’s home, if you want to wrap yourself in French every so often as you might wrap a warm blanket around you, come on in. We’ve got what you want.
Famous quotes… common proverbs… amusing expressions… These are the parts of a language that go far beyond verb conjugations and the memorization of noun genders. In fact, they are what lends color to a language, and makes it expressive. They are the things that make a language come alive.

Who Am I, Anyway?
SpkFrnch is the brainchild of Ruth Cassel Hoffman. I fell in love with French when I was about 12 years old. In dog years that’s almost 20 years older than I am now. Anyway, I never looked back: French major in college (what was once called Beaver College, now Arcadia University, and what was once the State University of New York at Albany, now The University at Albany). A.M. and Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures, University of Chicago. Specialist in medieval French literature and the 20th-century New Novel (le Nouveau Roman) in France. Used to teach French. Have run Language Resources Ltd. since 1983. Sometimes dream in French, tweet in French, Facebook in French, speak French in places where no one understands me just because that’s what came first to my tongue.
I hope you love French as much as I do, or will grow to do so! I look forward to hearing about your adventures in speaking French.
